The San Francisco Giants opened up the 2016 season with a bang.

The G-Men made Opening Day history on Monday, hitting back-to-back-to-back home runs in their 12-3 drubbing of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Denard Span, Joe Panik and Buster Posey all connected to hit three consecutive homers in the eighth inning off Brewers reliever Ariel Pena. To make it even better (or worse if you're a Milwaukee fan), all three blasts occurred with two outs.

It was the first time a team has accomplished the feat in a regular-season opener in nearly 20 years. According to Elias, the last team to pull it off was the San Diego Padres in 1997, who were ironically managed by ... current Giants skipper Bruce Bochy. No other Giants team in franchise history has ever put up three straight dingers in the first game of the regular season.

The 12 runs scored by the Giants were the most they've scored on Opening Day since they put up 13 against the San Diego Padres on April 5, 1983. Span, in his Giants debut, racked up five RBI -- the most by any Giants player since Barry Bonds on April 2, 2002.

While it's only one game, the Giants' offensive explosion was certainly a promising way to open the season. After all, it is an even year ... Possible foreshadowing for the 2010, 2012 and 2014 World Series Champs?
