The Mets are signing Tim Tebow to a minor-league contract
For better or for worse, the New York Mets have won the Tim Tebow sweepstakes.
After working out for a number of teams at a showcase last month, the 29-year-old former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner will begin his pro baseball career in the Mets organization, as the team has signed him to a minor-league deal.

According to FOX Sports MLB Insider Rosenthal, about eight teams were exploring the possibility of signing Tebow, with their levels of interest varying.
Tebow will reportedly start off in the Instructional League as he attempts to hone his skills as an outfielder. During his showcase in August, scouts reported that he showed significant raw power -- smashing multiple balls over 400 feet -- but also struggled a bit in the field and against live pitching against two former major leaguers.
So, will Tebow's attempt at baseball fare better than his career in the NFL? Only time will tell, but the media frenzy that typically follows him should love that he's giving it a go in the Big Apple.
