Tonight's World Series Game 3 bowtie represents ... Heart of 29

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:40 p.m. ET

WHAT IT MEANS:

After baseball Hall of Famer, Rod Carew suffered a massive heart attack last year and found himself in heart failure facing the need for a heart transplant, he reached out to the American Heart Association and MN Twins to share his story and raise awareness because even though heart disease is the No. 1 killer in the U.S., 80 percent is preventable with healthy lifestyle changes.

The AHA is using the BowTie Cause as an instrument to further the conversation around heart disease prevention and show support for Rod Carew. He is currently awaiting a heart transplant.

The bow tie design depicts the Heart of 29's campaign logo and symbolizes the partnership between Rod Carew, the Minnesota Twins and American Heart Association.
