Twins call up power-hitting prospect Miguel Sano
Miguel Sano is finally headed to the big leagues.
The Twins' top prospect will be called up Thursday for the series opener against the Kansas City Royals, according to multiple reports.
Sano will be called up to take the roster spot of first baseman/designated hitter Kennys Vargas, who was optioned t to Double-A Chattanooga Wednesday night.
Sano, 22, will make the jump from Double-A to the majors. The power-hitting third baseman will likely be inserted into the designated hitter spot for the Twins, with Trevor Plouffe already manning the hot corner.
In 66 games at Chattanooga this season, Sano hit .274/.374/.544 with 15 homers, 18 doubles and 48 RBI. Sano is a career .278/.373/.564 hitter with 105 homers and 339 RBIs in 445 games in the minors.
