Wade Miley drops a great response on Mariners' 16-13 win despite his implosion
Seattle Mariners lefty Wade Miley got a lot of help from his friends on Thursday night as the M's became the first team since the 2001 Indians to overcome a 10 run deficit in the fifth inning or later.
Miley got yanked after only 4.2 innings in which he coughed up 12 hits and two walks, allowing nine earned runs. By the time the inning was over the Mariners were down 12-2.
But Miley gets points for this one: "I knew going in if I could hold 'em to 12, we had a chance," Miley quipped after the incredible 16-13 win.
"The way these guys picked me up tonight, that was outstanding," he added. "It helps me out. As bad as I struggled, for them to come and do what they did is pretty special. We've got a pretty good group of guys in here."
The very unlikely win lifted the Mariners to a tie for first place with the Rangers atop the AL West. They'll take a win however they come.
