Warriors CEO Joe Lacob denies rumors of interest in purchasing A's
With the Oakland Athletics' future in constant doubt, whispers and rumors abound on a regular basis about their ownership and stadium concerns.
Co-owner Lew Wolff reiterated recently that his club is most definitely not for sale, but that hasn't kept rumors from swirling nonetheless.
Enter Golden State Warriors CEO Joe Lacob. Some reports came out that Lacob 'expressed an interest' in buying the A's during the Warriors' NBA championship parade a few weeks ago.
As quoted by CSN Bay Area in a new update, however, Lacob told the San Francisco Chronicle that he did not say such a thing: "I have no idea who said that or why they said it. I am not discussing the A’s with their ownership. As I understand it, they are not for sale.”
Lacob's Warriors, of course, are riding high, having just won the NBA title and re-signing restricted free agent/fan favorite Draymond Green to a five-year contract. In addition, the Warriors are still planning to move to San Francisco from their current home at Oracle Arena (right next door to the A's and O.co Coliseum) once their new facility is built.
