Watch Astros phenom Carlos Correa blaze around the bases and score from 2B on a wild pitch

Still need proof that Carlos Correa is among the game's brightest young stars?

The Houston Astros' shortstop is in just his second major-league season, but he has the instincts of a veteran. His speed doesn't hurt, either, as he showed in the 7-3 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

Correa was on second base when Mariners lefty James Paxton uncorked a wild pitch -- one of his three wild pitches in the fifth inning. Not content with taking just one base, Correa never hesitated as he sped around third and scored the Astros' sixth run.

"I realized it was far enough away from me to make it to home plate, so I gave it a try and it worked out pretty well," Correa told reeporters, per MLB.com. "It was exciting. I haven't gotten to do that at all in my professional career, and that was the first. It was special, obviously."

In addition to his heroics on the basepaths, Correa also put on a show defensively:

At the plate, he was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Not too bad for a 21-year-old.
