Watch: Beltre can't avoid head touch, runs from Powerade bath after walk-off
Don't touch Adrian Beltre's head.
That's one of the things everybody knows about the Texas Rangers third baseman. You just don't do it, as he doesn't like it when his head is touched. He can stand at third base and pester the opposing team's coach with baseballs, but you aren't allowed to touch his head.
That is, unless he's involved in a walk-off like he was on Monday. After drawing a bases-loaded walk against Seattle Mariners reliever Fernando Rodney to seal the Rangers' win, he found himself enveloped in a celebratory huddle with his teammates - leaving his head exposed. Naturally, they made sure to touch it:
However, Beltre was able to use his skills to (mostly) avoid the OTHER big component of post walk-off revelry - the sports drink shower.
Teammates Elvis Andrus and Rougned Odor put forth a great effort. You may be able to get to Beltre in the middle of a claustrophobic on-field scrum/huddle, but you'll have to try a bit harder if you want to dump a cooler of liquid on him.
Let this be a lesson that even if you manage to find a way to touch Beltre's head, that doesn't grant you clearance to do whatever you wish. After all, a world without rules would be chaos.
