Watch Cubs players carry David Ross off the field as a World Series champion
David Ross' MLB career is officially over, and he couldn't have scripted a more perfect way for it to end.
Ross hit a home run in Game 7 of the World Series -- making history in the process -- as the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians in extra innings 8-7 to win their first title in 108 years.
After the game, Ross talked to Ken Rosenthal about what it was like to play in this insane game.
"I'm totally exhausted. What a group of winners. These guys never quit. They've answered every challenge all year long. When you want to just crumble when that ball goes over the fence [Rajai Davis' homer], these guys fight back and continue to have good at-bats and play their game ... we got guys that didn't even make the roster that are great players. It's a good organization, I'm so happy for these guys and I'm just glad they took me on this journey."
And then around the 1:38 mark, an incredible thing happened: Anthony Rizzo and Jason Heyward came up behind Ross, picked him up and carried him off the field for the final time as a World Series champion.
