Watch the 1st-inning misplays that put the Indians in a huge hole
It would have been tough to script a more disastrous start for the Cleveland Indians in Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night.
After Josh Tomlin retired the first two Cubs hitters of the game, Kris Bryant took him deep for a 1-0 lead.
And then the real trouble started. After the next two batters singled, Addison Russell lifted this seemingly harmless flyball to right-center. Center fielder Tyler Naquin and right fielder Lonnie Chisenhall had a major communication breakdown, though the only error on the play was charged to second baseman Jason Kipnis on a throw home.
When the dust finally settled, the Cubs had a 3-0 lead and the Indians were forced to play catch-up. And it got even worse in the third inning when Russell struck again — with a grand slam.
