Watch Yasiel Puig make incredible acrobatic catch to preserve perfect game
Yasiel Puig has received his fair share of criticism for being a less-than-stellar teammate, but on Saturday he went all-out to preserve a perfect game for Dodgers starter Rich Hill.
With two outs in the seventh, Miami's Martin Prado launched a deep drive to left in what appeared to be the end of Hill's perfecto bid.
But Puig had other plans.
The Dodgers left fielder made an incredible diving catch to deep left-center and hung on to the ball in the process — all to keep Hill's run at history alive.
However, it was the last batter Hill would face, as manager Dave Roberts pulled the 36-year-old lefty for Joe Blanton to start the eighth. Blanton later gave up a single to Jeff Francouer, ending the Dodgers' combined perfect game effort.
The Dodgers won 5-0.
