World Series 2016 live stream: how to watch online

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The 2016 World Series will start on Tuesday night. Here’s how you can catch it on television and online.

Two long World Series droughts will come to an end this year. The Cleveland Indians have not been to the Fall Classic since 1997, when they lost in seven games to the then-Florida Marlins, and they last won way back in 1948. And unless you’re living under a proverbial sports rock, you obviously know the Chicago Cubs have not reached the World Series since 1945 and have not won since 1908.

Because the American League won this year’s All-Star Game, because, you know, “it counts” until further notice, the Indians will have home-field advantage in the World Series. But the Cubs are the favorites to win the series based on talent level. On top of that, as the most famous “lovable losers” in baseball, neutral fan sentiment is probably on Chicago’s side.

Game 1 between the Cubs and Indians is slated for Tuesday night, with first pitch scheduled for just after 8 p.m. ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, and all subsequent games are scheduled similarly with first pitch around 8 p.m ET. Game 6 and Game 7, if necessary, are scheduled for Nov. 1 and Nov. 2.

Here’s how you watch the entire 2016 World Series, via television and live streams.

Live Stream 2: MLBTV

Hopefully we get a long World Series that goes six or seven games, with consistently competitive games throughout. Apart from what happens on the field, the chess match between Cubs’ manager Joe Maddon and Indians’ manager Terry Francona will be very interesting to watch.
