Tickets for Game 7 of the World Series to be played Wednesday have skyrocketed with some tickets being priced on the open market for more than $25,000.
After the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 9–3 to force a Game 7, resale tickets immediately went up for sell on sites such as Ticket IQ and StubHub.
"A pair of seats is costing fans $2,000 per ticket, after fees," Patrick Ryan, co-founder of Eventellect, a resale market ticket distribution company told ESPN.com. "That is more than the 'get in price' for eight of the past 10 Super Bowls. It's unique, but it's the number most industry insiders would expect the get in for a Cubs Game 7 to be."
As of Wednesday morning on Ticket IQ's website, one ticket will cost a fan about $2,400, while four tickets will run $27,306.
According to the StubHub, a pair of tickets for Wednesday's game were bought for $19,500 each. Those seats are near the Cubs dugout.
The cheapest ticket on StubHub is going for $997 in a standing room only section of Progressive Field.
