New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez hit another home run on Saturday, but his effort to hit a sacrifice fly was just as impressive.

Over the last month-plus, the New York Yankees have re-entered the American League playoff race. They won their seventh straight game on Saturday, 5-1, over the Tampa Bay Rays, and Gary Sanchez made it two straight games with a home run as he went back-to-back with Jacoby Ellsbury in the sixth inning.

Rays left-hander Enny Romero attempted to intentionally walk Sanchez in the eight inning of Saturday’s game, with a runner on third base. The rookie catcher clearly was not having it.

The Yankees ushered in a youth movement right around the time their current good stretch started, and Sanchez has been one of the key players in that playoff push. His 13 home runs in 125 at-bats this season has tied a major league record for a player’s first 35 games, and he’s also shown some defensive prowess behind the plate recently.

Sanchez seems to be an active Twitter user as a way to connect with fans, at the handle @ElGary Sanchez, including using the hashtag #IamGary frequently as an apparent campaign. The aging stars the Yankees have had in recent years have largely been phased out, but Sanchez has a bright future and he looks like a new budding star on his way to ruling summers in the Bronx.
