Yankees fan drops game-tying and walk-off home run balls within minutes
The New York Yankees pulled off one of the greatest comebacks of the season thus far on Wednesday night. Trailing by four runs entering the ninth inning, the Yankees rallied to score six runs thanks to a game-tying home run from Brian McCann and two batters later, a game-winner from Didi Gregorius.
Gregorius' two-run shot capped the 9-7 win, keeping the Yankees within single digits in the AL East. The game was a blowout until the ninth, which surely emptied the stands on a Wednesday. Some fans stuck around to witness the magic, one of which is a notorious supporter who collects baseballs.
Zack Hample, the infamous fan, came away with neither of the home run balls from the last inning, though. That's because he dropped both of them in a span of a few minutes.
McCann's homer hit him in the face after supposedly deflecting off another fan's glove.
And Gregorius' walk-off fell back onto the field after Hample claimed to be "body-slammed."
Maybe next time don't use your face to catch a home run ball.
