F1: FIA issues 2016 schedule, U.S. Grand Prix in doubt

Published Dec. 2, 2015 3:09 p.m. ET

The United States Grand Prix has been listed as provisional on the latest version of the 2016 Formula One calendar, which was published on Wednesday after the World Motor Sport Council held a meeting in Paris.

Although the Austin, Texas, race still has its previously announced date, the FIA says that it is "subject to agreement with the promoter and the ASN."

As previously reported, the race has lost some 20 percent of its subsidy from the Texas Major Events Trust Fund, with a reduction from $25 million to $19.5 million for this year, and Circuit of The Americas boss Bobby Epstein has made it clear the race could be under threat.
