F1: Vettel wins Singapore GP, passes Senna on all-time win list
Sebastian Vettel passed Aryton Senna on the career all-time win list, recording the 42nd win of his career after starting on pole in the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
This was also Vettel's third win of the season in his first year with Ferrari.
Daniel Ricciardo did not make it easy though, staying within 3 seconds of the leader for the majority of the race, finishing second for Red Bull Racing.
Vettel's Ferrari teammate, Kimi Raikkonen, also made it to the podium after finishing third.
Lewis Hamilton's efforts to tie Senna's record of 41 wins in 161 starts came to an abrupt end, retiring in the middle of the race after losing power.
Hamilton's point lead shrunk by 12 points, and now leads teammate Nico Rosberg by 41 points in the world championship standings.
Nico Hulkenberg's night took a turn for the worst when he collided with Felipe Massa, after Massa was blending in from pitting on Lap 13. As a result of the incident, Hulkenberg was handed a 3-grid spot penalty for next week's race in Japan.
Massa would later have to retire with gearbox issues.
The weirdest moment in the race occurred when the safety car was forced to come out, after a man was caught walking on the racecourse.
There was trouble at the start, as Max Verstappen stalled on the grid, but managed to get back on the lead lap on Lap 17.
But, that wasn't the only excitement for Verstappen, after he ignored team orders to let Carlos Sainz Jr. overtake him towards the end of the race in an effort to improve Sainz Jr.'s position in the championship standings.
Jenson Button took away any chance he had to score points when his front wing was severely damaged after aggressive racing with Pastor Maldonado.
Button would later retire on Lap 53, joining his McLaren teammate Fernando Alonzo, who retired earlier in the race.
American driver Alexander Rossi finished 14th in his F1 debut, ahead of his more experienced teammate Will Stevens, who finished 15th.
F1 moves on to Japan for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit.
