Felipe Massa willing to help Williams teammate Lance Stroll

Felipe Massa says he’ll be happy to help out new Williams team mate Lance Stroll in any way he can in 2017.

Massa has known Stroll’s father Laurence – who has long been associated with Ferrari – for many years.

“It’s a little bit of a different situation,” said Massa. “I met him he was maybe eight years old, Lance, and I know his father a long time, since I arrived at Ferrari. It’s different. It’s nice, for sure, I have nothing to worry about.

“I will try to help him as much as I can – I’m like that anyway. As much as he grows, he can do a good job, it’s good for the team and championship. I’m really completely working as a team. Mentor is not the right [word]. As a teammate. I want to be in front of him but I want to pass all the information, anything I can see he can improve. I have no problems.”

Massa lost valuable track time in Barcelona last week after Stroll damaged the car, but for this week’s second and final test he will have the car for the first two days.

Meanwhile, Massa says he’s still under the usual levels of F1 pressure, despite this being a “bonus” season for him: “The pressure you always have, man. It’s part of the game. Anyway I think I have enough experience to support the pressure.”
