Fernando Alonso operates a camera during F1 practice
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton topped the afternoon practice session at the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo on Friday, but it was McLaren’s Fernando Alonso who stole the headlines.
The two-time champion could only manage 11th fastest after his McLaren-Honda coasted to a halt with 36 minutes left in the session due to an ERS water pressure issue.
Those following on social media immediately began calling for a deck chair to be brought out to the Spaniard, after he had infamously watched the rest of the practice session on a deck chair last year following a mechanical failure on his McLaren-Honda.
Instead though, Alonso helped the track marshals clear his stricken car before he aimlessly began walking around and kicking rocks in the infield:
Until finally, a camera operator came up to Alonso and gave him something to do. And the best part? It came with a deck chair!
Indeed, Renault, indeed.
