Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen tests 'Halo' protection system
In an effort to keep Formula 1 drivers safe, the FIA is expected to introduce partially closed cockpits as early as 2017 â and on Wednesday in Barcelona Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen tested a prototype "Halo" protection system for the first time.

Although the design has not been finalized, the Halo is meant to protect drivers from flying debris at high speeds. The effect on driver visibility is also a huge concern, but Raikkonen said his view from the cockpit was "OK."

Many fans are upset that the Halo will make cars uglier, but Mercedes' Nico Rosberg is all for the change.
