Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Tomorrow’s final episode of ‘IndyCar Chronicles’ will showcase the title fight between Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud and Will Power. Watch a preview here.

IndyCar fans will want to set your DVR’s now for tomorrow’s surprise finale of IndyCar Chronicles. With the 2016 season over, the half-hour docuseries is also closing down with one last episode all about the Team Penske championship fight.

“IndyCar Chronicles: Simon Pagenaud” will detail the champion’s road to his first-ever IndyCar title during the season-ending 2016 GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma. Pagenaud was set up to battle his colleague – and 2014 champion – Will Power, but a mechanical problem for Power saw Pagenaud run away with the race and the championship.

While it’s nice to see that IndyCar Chronicles is getting a season finale, it’s just luck of the draw that it may not be the show’s best episode. Producers obviously had no idea that the title fight was going to be so one-sided yet Pagenaud’s dominating victory at Sonoma will likely take a lot of the drama out of the installment.

Still, at least Pagenaud is getting a feature, because he was just starting out four years ago when IndyCar had its previous docuseries IndyCar 36. Especially as he’s the champion and had been the championship leader for most of the season it would have been weird if they hadn’t produced an episode about him sometime this year.

If you have missed any of IndyCar Chronicles this season, past episodes – featuring the likes of Scott Dixon, Graham Rahal, Tony Kanaan, James Hinchcliffe, Ryan Hunter-Reay and more – are available online via YouTube.

IndyCar Chronicles: Simon Pagenaud airs tomorrow at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on NBCSN.
