Kansas City native Jeff Emig is one of 16 individuals set to be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, Jan. 29.

The full list was announced by Missouri Sports Hall of Fame President and Executive Director Jerald Andrews on Thursday. Along with stars such as Vince Coleman and Amos Otis, Emig will be inducted at the Enshrinement in January 2017 presented by Killian Construction.

Emig, now a play-by-play announcer for Monster Energy Supercross on FOX Sports, has four AMA national championships (three Motocross, one Supercross), an FIM World Supercross title, and was a member of the U.S. Motocross des Nations team from 1992-1997, all in an 11-year professional career.

Emig took 37 AMA National wins in total, and was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2004.

His career began in 1989, while 1992 was his breakout season when he won the AMA national Championship in the 125cc class.

A rivalry with Jeremy McGrath quickly emerged and, in 1996, Emig came out on top in an exciting season finale which gave him the 250cc AMA Motocross title. He then went on to win the 1996 FIM World Supercross and the 1997 AMA Supercross Series titles before easily defending his AMA 250cc Motocross Championship.

Hard crashes ahead of the 2000 season put an end to Emig’s career as, while he was ultimately able to recover, serious injuries led to his decision to retire.

Emig, now 46, is in his 11th year of TV commentary. Emig is a brand ambassador for Shift MX, Fox Racing, ODI Grips and a global brand ambassador for Husqvarna Motorcycles. He and his wife Jennifer currently reside in Riverside, California, with their two children Presley and Jagger.
