NHRA Pro Stock driver V Gaines was able to walk away after being involved in this high-speed racing incident last Sunday at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, NC.

A statement by the NHRA read: "NHRA Pro Stock driver V Gaines, was involved in this unfortunate incident during the first round of eliminations today at the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway. Gaines, who exited the car under his own power, was examined and released at the scene by NHRA emergency services officials. 'It happened so fast, I was unable to catch it," Gaines said. "I'm just sick that we ruined a very good race car. We'll come back and rebound.'"
