Race-winning Ferrari 312 T3 up for sale
The Ferrari that won the 1978 United States West Grand Prix at Long Beach is up for sale.
Not many people will ever get to race a Ferrari F1 car, and even fewer will go on to win a race in one.
When they do, they etch their names permanently into Formula One’s history books.
Carlos Reutemann had already won two races for the Italian team when he rolled into Long Beach in 1978, but both had came behind the wheel of the Ferrari 312 T2.
The car he was set to drive this weekend, the Ferrari 312 T3 chassis No. 032, had made its Grand Prix debut at the 1978 South African GP with Gilles Villeneuve behind the wheel, but had failed to finish due to an oil leak.
This time however, the car held up for Reutemann and he went on to win from pole position. It was the first win for the T3 model.
One month later, Reutemann again took pole with chassis No. 032 at the prestigious Monaco GP.
The car has been through various car collections since, and has been seen quite often in recent years as a regular at the Monaco Historique event.
