Timo Glock continues to laugh off Brazil '08 conspiracy theories
On Nov. 2, 2008, Timo Glock played a critical role in determining the Formula One World Champion, whether he had intended to or not.
The Toyota driver wanted to stop for wet tires as rain started to fall in the closing laps of the race, but the team informed him that the pits were blocked. So Glock went on to complete the final lap on dry-weather tires, trying his hardest just to keep his car on the track.
The German was forced to drive so slow that, in the final turn, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton passed him for fifth position, which was enough to give him the championship. Conspiracy theories immediately began popping up accusing Glock of intentionally handing Hamilton the title over Ferrari’s Felipe Massa.
Glock has remained adamant that that was not the case yet, to this day, he still finds himself questioned about it. But, after eight years of the same accusations, Glock is now just laughing off anyone who thinks he was part of a larger plot:
