Will Power's championship run takes a blow with crash at Watkins Glen
Will Power's championship run may have come to an end on Sunday at the IndyCar Grand Prix at The Glen at Watkins Glen in New York.
The 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series champion had won four out of the last seven races, closing in on points leader Simon Pagenaud with just two races left to go in the season.
However, things unfolded for Will Power early on in Sunday's race when Mikhail Aleshin blew a tire on Lap 15, bringing out a caution. Power had yet to pit and so was forced to make a stop under the caution, dropping him back into the mid-field.
On Lap 39, Charlie Kimball attempted to make a move on Power down the backstraight on the outside as they came out of the esses and headed toward the inner loop. Power, perhaps not knowing that Kimball was there, squeezed the Chip Ganassi Racing driver to the edge of the track. The two made contact and Power was in the wall.

Point leader Simon Pagenaud has been running in the top five for most of the race. The gap between him and Power entering the race was 28 points. The finale, set to be held at Sonoma Raceway in two weeks time, is a double-points race.
The incident was reviewed but no action was taken.
