Charlotte Motor Speedway received the Race Track Business Conference’s “Outstanding Facility of the Year” award on Friday at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis.

“We are honored to receive the Outstanding Facility of the Year award,” said Shaun Johnson, the executive director of operations for CMS. “The entire Charlotte Motor Speedway team works hard to offer a wide variety of fun and excitement for our fans and racers.”

The speedway, located just outside of the Charlotte city limits in Concord, N.C., has become a racing oasis with the dirt track and zMax Dragway that combine to host NASCAR and NHRA weekends, the World of Outlaws, the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout, the Charlotte AutoFair, and an annual Christmas light show.

“Charlotte Motor Speedway has been a longtime innovator in motorsports facility development,” Timothy Frost, National Speedway Directory Publisher, Director and President, said. “Charlotte's wide array of competitive racing circuits with varied surfaces and configurations has transformed the speedway into one of the most entertaining venues in the world.”

The award has been won by Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park, and Daytona International Speedway over the past three years.
