Check out video of Cole Custer getting standing ovation as he boards plane
If you missed the end of Sunday's Camping World Truck Series race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, you missed the memorable finish of a wild one.
John Hunter Nemechek won, but only after hitting then-leader Cole Custer twice in the final two turns. The second time, on the final turn, Nemechek broad-sided Custer so hard that it drove both of them off the track and into the grass, which they skidded through to get to the start-finish line.
Nemechek insisted afterward that he did nothing wrong, that he only did what he needed to do to get the win.
Custer registered his disapproval by tackling Nemechek as Nemechek stood in front of the flagstand, waiting to grab the checkered flag so he could celebrate with it.
In a FOXSports.com poll viewed by nearly 111,000 in the first 24 hours it was up, 77 percent of the fans who voted said they did not think Nemechek won the race fairly. Only 23 percent thought he did.
At least some of the former voters obviously were on the plane that took Custer back to the Charlotte, North Carolina area after the race -- as evidenced by the Twitter video posted by motorsports executive Nic Moncher when Custer boarded. Check it out below, along with Custer's tweet on how he feels about the incident with Nemechek.
