Denny Hamlin signs contract extension with Joe Gibbs Racing, FedEx
Defending Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin and his long-term sponsor FedEx have both signed contract extensions to remain together at Joe Gibbs Racing.
FedEx has been Hamlin’s sponsor since he was a rookie in 2006 and now that relationship will continue for an unspecified amount of time going forward.
“I can’t tell you how good the dynamic within this team is,” said Hamlin. “… FedEx does a wonderful job at activating at each race track.”
Hamlin has never driven for any Monster Energy NASCAR Cup team other than JGR and during a press conference Thursday at Daytona International Speedway, he said he had no interest in looking elsewhere. “I’ve been a horse with blinders,” Hamlin said. “Everything’s so good at home, why venture out?”
Team owner Joe Gibbs said he was proud of the relationship with FedEx.
“I think FedEx is a standard bearer in our sport for what this sport is all about,” said Gibbs. “ … It’s exciting for us to have partners like this.”
