Don't expect a strong reaction by NASCAR on Busch-Logano incident

Do not expect a strong reaction from NASCAR in response to the brief post-race scuffle between Kyle Busch and Joey Logano at Las Vegas Motor Speedway following Sunday’s Kobalt 400, which was won by Martin Truex Jr.

Appearing on SIRIUS/XM NASCAR Radio’s Tradin’ Paint show with Jim Noble and Chocolate Myers, NASCAR Chairman and CEO Brian France said the sanctioning body likely won’t fine the combatants.

“What I always say is that there’s a very bright line that we are happy to clarify for any of the drivers, the teams or the owners — to walk into a hauler on race day or before and talk to Richard Buck (managing director, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series), who runs the day in, day out racing,” said France during his SIRIUS/XM appearance.

“He (Buck) will be very clear about what are racing incidents and what we will accept and what are sort of … paybacks or intentional things that may go on,” said France. “He’s very clear about that, so there’s no … dispute as to what that line is.”

As for drivers getting emotional in the heat of battle, that’s racing.

“We’re not going to get too wound up about it, because this is an emotional sport,” said France. “… That’s just part of big-time sports.”
