Johnson's Victory Lane Mother's Day wish did not go as planned
Jimmie Johnson had just won his third race of the year, but being the great husband that he is, he paused amid the celebration to get his wife on the phone and wish her a happy Mother's Day.
Let's just say it didn't go as well as his pit strategy.
Johnson pulled into victory lane after his late-race gamble paid off to win the rain-delayed Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway on Saturday night, then pulled out his cellphone and tried to dial his wife in the first few minutes of Mother's Day.
"Then I caught her on FaceTime," Johnson said, "and she was NOT so happy to be on FaceTime with all those people around. I think the signal went out — or she hung up on me."
Safe to say the six-time Sprint Cup series champion won't be in the doghouse too long.
