Kevin Harvick boggled by Tony Stewart’s ‘retirement’ plans
For many, retirement involves unlimited days on the golf course and participating in activities you normally wouldn’t have time for with a full-time job.
But that’s not always the case if you’re a racecar driver.
And that’s especially not the case if you’re Tony Stewart.
While he’ll be doing things he wouldn’t be able to do as a full-time NASCAR driver, you won’t be catching Smoke on the back nine at a country club.
Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet, is a little perplexed by his car owner’s “retirement” plans.
“You know I asked Tony, ‘What are you going to do to kinda relax?’,” Harvick told FOXSports.com. “And he’s like, ‘Relax? I gotta go to this dirt race and that dirt race ...’ I thought the whole point of retirement was to take some time off and unwind.”
While we don’t know fully all the plans Stewart has up his sleeve for the coming year, we do know he’ll be spending much of his time at dirt tracks, including one he owns, Eldora Speedway.
“Apparently (retirement) means going to dirt races and sitting on the tractor plowing up the dirt and making sure it’s good for the racers,” Harvick said with a laugh. “Sounds like he’s going to be a track operator, a promoter and all the things in between this winter.”
