NASCAR community congratulates William Byron on Hendrick deal
Thursday morning, Hendrick Motorsports announced it signed NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader William Byron to a long-term driving deal.
Next year, Byron will race a full NASCAR XFINITY Series schedule for Hendrick affiliate JR Motorsports and at some point afterwards will presumably move up to Hendrick's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team.
Heavy stuff for a young man who is just 18 years old but already has won five races this season.
The Byron-to-Hendrick announcement was greeted warmly on social media.
Excited to see the news for @WilliamByron today, dude has been doing a good job. Welcome to the team!
