NASCAR community mourns the loss of golf legend Arnold Palmer
The entire sporting world lost one of its great legends on Sunday with the passing of golfing superstar Arnold Palmer at the age of 87.
Not only a premier talent, Palmer was one of golf's most charismatic personalities and a gentleman's gentleman.
Palmer had a NASCAR connection doing work with driver Brian Vickers to raise awareness about blood clots.
Earlier this year, Vickers drove the No. 14 Janssen Arnie's Army Charitable Foundation Chevrolet SS in support of Palmer's foundation. Vickers drove the car to an 11th-place finish at Auto Club Speedway and then a seventh-place run the following race at Martinsville Speedway.
Vickers and Palmer also teamed up with Janssen to chronicle their personal experiences with blood clots, which they shared at www.TreatMyClot.com.
And on Sunday, the NASCAR community paid tribute to Palmer.
