Will Jeff Gordon sub for Dale Earnhardt Jr. again at Watkins Glen?
Will Jeff Gordon be back behind the wheel of the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet again next week at Watkins Glen International?
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has missed three consecutive races with concussion-like symptoms, with Gordon filling in for him last week in the Brickyard 400 and again this week at Pocono Raceway.
In a pre-race interview before Sunday's Pennsylvania 400, Gordon wasn't giving any clues about next week, which if he drives will be his 800th career NASCAR Premier Series start.
"I want Dale Jr. back very quickly, just like everybody else does," Gordon said. "... When (team owner) Rick Hendrick calls you, somehow your calendar suddenly opens up even when it's not."
Pressed further about the Watkins Glen plan, Gordon said, "We'll see. Let's wait until we get to that point."
Hope the weathers clears @poconoraceway and @TeamHendrick has a fun and successful afternoon. @nationwide88
