A deep look at all San Antonio's draft-and-stash prospects

The San Antonio Spurs love to draft players, then let them develop overseas on another team's dime. It's an incredibly smart strategy that continued last Thursday when they took Serbian center Nikola Milutinov with the 26th overall selection.

Here's a look at how their entire collection of prospects are currently doing overseas, including former Ohio State standout Deshaun Thomas, courtesy of San Antonio Express-News reporter Dan McCarney:

"Thomas has proven to be a hard-working professional, losing weight and earning a spot in the rotation at mighty Barcelona. He’s also honed his stroke to the point he’s a credible threat from 3-point range, essential to play SF in the NBA. His lack of quickness, however, is a major problem on defense."

There's a dozen players in total, and not all will ever get the chance to wear a Spurs jersey in the NBA. But their development is important. It increases their trade value, but also gives San Antonio a miniature army of prospects who they can bring over when they see fit.

It's almost like their own minor league team, scattered throughout the world. No other NBA franchise can match that.
