An effort to explain Marcus Smart's egregious, shameless flop against Atlanta

Marcus Smart has a reputation for flopping, but he outdid himself Friday night in the Celtics' Game 3 win over the Hawks in Boston.

With the Celtics up six with 4:33 remaining in the fourth quarter, Smart ran down the baseline to attempt to rebound a Jae Crowder 3-pointer.

Crowder's shot missed, and Smart was boxed out by Atlanta's Kyle Korver, who, despite being little more than a deadeye 3-point shooter, apparently has the springiest hips in the NBA.

Korver's box-out sent Smart flying at least four feet into the air and out of bounds. He was able to get up from this horrible act of basketball aggression, and less than a minute later, he had recovered enough to do this to Al Horford.

Smart's flop is so egregious, so over-the-top, that's it's almost impossible to take umbrage with it. Surely he had good reason to go completely airborne in such a manner.

As if that rag-doll dive can be topped, let's check out some of Marcus Smart's other top flops.
