Andrew Wiggins throws down a huge one-handed jam (Video)
Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins drove to the hoop and threw down a huge one-handed jam Friday night.
Friday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves were in Detroit to play against the Pistons. The Timberwolves ultimately lost, but Andrew Wiggins threw down a massive, one-handed highlight reel dunk.
With a little over four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Wiggins set up past the three-point line. Pistons guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was guarding Wiggins. Caldwell-Pope felt a screen on his right hip.
Preparing to fight around the screen, Caldwell-Pope tried to get around the screener. However, Wiggins ignored the screener and drove the opposite direction, right past Caldwell-Pope. Wiggins left Caldwell-Pope in the dust and drove right down the middle of the lane.
Every Pistons defender gave minimal effort on the help defense, and “minimal effort” may be generous. Detroit’s defenders put in no effort to stop Wiggins. Pistons’ big man Jon Leuer turned his back and gave up on the play. Leuer was smart enough to know if he contested the dunk, he would be on the next Andrew Wiggins poster. Instead, Wiggins was allowed to score the easy two points with a one-handed jam.
