Though Lang only played 51 games for the Hawks during the 1995-96 season, he impressed enough to have the best season by a #28 in Atlanta Hawk history. Before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Christian Laettner, Lang played an important role for what was arguably the best Hawks team since the team moved from St. Louis. Paired with Steve Smith, Mookie Blaylock, and a plethora of other role players, the Hawks were in line to take over as a Eastern Conference powerhouse.Lang was second on the team in rebounds per game, only behind Grant Long. He rejected nearly two shots per game, which led the squad. He was traded to the Timberwolves in February 1996, and played the rest of the season thee. After the season, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for a 1998 draft pick. Lang played three more seasons in the NBA before retiring upon the end of the 1999-2000 season.

 Who wore #28 most recently?

Ivano Newbill (1997)

Newbill played his high school and college ball in Georgia, so a return to Atlanta for the 1996-97 season made perfect sense. He played in 72 games, averaging 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds. The 6’9 combo forward could be in the argument for “Least Relevant Hawk of All Time”.Who’s your favorite #28 in Hawks history?
