Austin Daye drops 52 points at Drew League to win bet

The Drew League is one of the best pro-am basketball leagues in the United States. Every summer, handfuls of NBA players take their game to the Drew (or the Goodman League in Washington, D.C., or any of a select pro-ams across the country, like Jamal Crawford's in Seattle) to get some reps in and play the game they love.

Over the weekend, Atlanta Hawks forward Austin Daye made his summer debut at the Drew League, and he did so in style. Daye scored 52 points on Sunday on just 25 shots, including 8 3-pointers, according to the Hawks' official team website.

"My friends, we all have a group chat. We had a bet going that I would get 50," he said.

The lesson is clear. Before every Hawks game in 2015-16, his friends need to bet Daye that he can't do whatever it is Atlanta needs from him in that game. "Bet you can't get 10 rebounds." "Bet you can't shut down Kevin Durant." "Bet you can't sit on the bench for an entire game without blinking."

Although that last one might be dangerous.
