Boogie Cousins bashes opposing center: 'He's not even a defender'
Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is one of the most unstoppable forces of nature the NBA has seen since Shaquille O'Neal's prime. He can score in bunches, often right next to the basket, and it takes more than a handful of guys to keep him off the glass.
In most settings, he's completely unstoppable:
But on Tuesday night, Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard did a pretty decent job in one-on-one situations, holding Cousins to 17 points on 4-of-20 shooting.
Did Cousins give credit where it was due after the game? Of course not. Here's more, via The Oregonian:
The Blazers sent a wave of big men at Cousins as Leonard, Mason Plumlee and Ed Davis all took turns checking Sacramento's versatile big man. Leonard, in particular, had success slowing Cousins, who was averaging 52.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in he previous two games. "He was very good on Cousins," Blazers coach Terry Stotts said of Leonard's defensive effort. "He banged with him, he took the challenge." However, Cousins wasn't quick to congratulate Leonard on his defensive game. "I'm not giving him that much credit," Cousins said. "He's not even a defender."
Cousins is averaging an absurd 27.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per game this season. Regardless of what he thinks about Leonard's performance, Portland's backup big man deserves to throw himself two birthday parties this year for a job well done.
