Boston Celtics select Cal's Jaylen Brown third overall in the NBA Draft
The Boston Celtics have selected small forward Jaylen Brown with the third overall pick of the NBA Draft on Thursday.
A reliable jumper who could turn into a threat on both ends of the court, the 6-foot-7, 225 pound Cal Bears forward has been compared to the likes of Jimmy Butler, whom the Celtics had reportedly tried to pursue. Boston brought the 19-year-old in for two workouts in the past few weeks. Known as an elite defender, Brown also fills in the Celtics' need to score on the wing.

In his only season with the Bears, Brown averaged 14.6 points, 2.0 assists and 3.0 turnovers per game. The Pac-12 Freshman of the Year also logged a team-high 108 fouls.
This is the first of three first-round picks for the Celtics.
