Carmelo Anthony says he's staying with the Knicks for 2016-17 season

Carmelo Anthony isn't going anywhere soon.

Despite the growing consensus that the New York Knicks are caught between rebuild and "win now," moving Carmelo Anthony remains a seismic proposition.

With a monster contract, a no-trade clause and a miniscule pool of plausible suitors, the 31-year-old forward isn't the, um, most fluid asset on the market, despite his estimable talents.

Nonetheless, there are ideas out there - - horrifying and nefarious thoughts involving sign-and-trades and Dwight Howard and Anthony sharing the ball with James Harden. And no matter or apocalyptic or raving made they might be, while these notions remain in play, so does the question: will the Knicks try to move Carmelo this summer?

Speaking at a TechCrunch conference in Brooklyn in Wednesday, Anthony said to expect him here, in New York and with the Knicks come the 2016-17 season.

"You'll see me here," Carmelo said, per CBS New York. "For the Knicks. Absolutely."

This, of course, is the most likely outcome.

As stated, moving Anthony would require some tectonic shifts in the landscapes—namely, finding a team willing and able to shoulder the $29 million Anthony stands to make in 2017 and convince him (and likely your own star player) to agree to uprooting. This doesn't

Then again, Houston is warm, has outstanding Tex-Mex and harbors the greenest of green lights to be found in the league. Conversely, the Knicks' triangle offense is predicated on post-play, which a certain player may be able to convince Phil Jackson he's capable of.

Just thinking out loud here.

Dan is on Twitter. His heart could not sustain a Dwight-Carmelo trade.
