Celtics' Thomas: 'DeMarcus is one of my good friends to this day'

Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas has played at an All-Star level this season, but in order for his team to be treated like a legitimate championship contender, they need at least one more player who can draw double teams at will and takeover an entire game.

Those guys are rare, but Thomas is always trying to recruit his talented friends and former teammates. One example also happens to be the best disgruntled superstar alive: DeMarcus Cousins.

Here's what Thomas recently said about their relationship on The Vertical podcast:

"DeMarcus is a tough guy to handle." Thomas said. "But it's all for the good I think, just because he's just a guy that wears his feelings on his sleeve. And it's tough to shake something that you've been doing for so long. He means well. DeMarcus is one of my good friends to this day. Even though people tried to start some things up with me and him, we still talk. And he's a hell of a player, man. It's just some things guys got to work on. I don't know how to say it. He doesn't have a bad attitude like people think he does. It's just sometimes he's got to think before he does some things."

Landing Cousins would be a big deal but seems like one of those trades that'll never actually happen. The Sacramento Kings' franchise player has had numerous dust ups with his current team, and their relationship has, at times, looked beyond repair. And guess what? He's still there!

But who knows? The NBA is a crazy place, and maybe Cousins would be happier in Boston, on a winning team, with a former teammate who, um, definitely always passed him the ball?
