Chris Webber predicts Sacramento's new arena will be 'great'
Sleep Train Arena wasn't always known by that name. When former Kings' star Chris Webber played in the building, it was called the Arco Arena.
Soon, neither will exist. Sacramento is replacing Sleep Train Arena with the Golden 1 Center. When Webber returned to basketball arena for a recent broadcast of Kings-Knicks, he discussed his fond memories of playing in Arco Arena -- crediting Sacramento's fan base for making the space as lively and impressive as it was.
“Arco is nothing but a shell without the fans. And I thank the fans for making it a home,” said Webber, via SacBee. “That’s why I think the next arena will be great. It could be a prettier shell, it could have more bells and whistles. But if it doesn’t have Arco fans in it, it’s nothing but a hollow building.”
