Cuban reportedly fined $25,000 for discussing Jordan, Matthews deals
It was a successful week for the Dallas Mavericks and owner Mark Cuban during the start of free agency. And he let people know about it, and now he will reportedly pay a price.
Cuban was fined $25,000 for publicly discussing pending deals with center DeAndre Jordan and guard Wesley Matthews, according to ESPN.
The Mavericks reportedly secured agreements from Jordan on a four-year, $80 million deal and Matthews on a four-year, $64 million deal. Players are not allowed to sign their contracts and teams are not permitted to discuss these deals until Thursday, the end of the free-agency moratorium period.
Jordan led the league in rebounding (15.0 per game) and field-goal percentage (71.0) last season. Matthews, who is recovering from a torn Achilles' heel, averaged 15.9 points and shot 39 percent from the 3-point arc last season.
