DeMarcus Cousins erupts in postgame interview after he was 'unejected'

Intense drama filled The Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on Tuesday night when Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins was given his second technical foul and (originally) ejected from the game for what appeared to be the Kings big man spitting his mouth piece in the direction of the Portland Trail Blazers bench.

The act came following a crucial made basket by Cousins, one that eventually helped the Kings secure a 126-121 victory over their opposition from Portland.

However, after review, Cousins' ejection was overruled by the officials -- and Cousins was permitted to return and finish the game after running off the court in an extremely demonstrative fashion.

NBA referee Brian Forte explained the reasoning behind rescinding the second technical foul and why he made the call in the first place (via NBA.com):

Question: What was the initial call on [DeMarcus] Cousins when he was issued his 2nd technical?

Forte: “I called a technical foul because I thought DeMarcus [Cousins] threw his mouthpiece into the stands when it ended up underneath Portland’s bench.”

Question: Why was it rescinded?

Forte: “I conferred with my partners and they confirmed that he did not throw the mouthpiece and that it came out of his mouth and that’s how it ended up there.”

Question: Did you consult video in that instance?

Forte: “It is not a reviewable matter.”

Question: Just a huddle between you three [officials]?

Forte: “Correct.”

Question: It was Portland who initiated the technical?

Forte: “No, it was my decision”

"It's ridiculous. It's obvious what's being done out here. It's a nightly basis. I hope the world can see now what's really going on out here. It's getting ridiculous. It's really ridiculous. ... Yes, man. Yes. This is ridiculous, man. Ridiculous."
