Jeremy Lin was a late scratch from today’s lineup due to lower back soreness. The Brooklyn Nets, despite missing Lin, defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 107-97.
The Brooklyn Nets got off to a solid start in the first quarter as they held a six point lead late in the first. The Lakers, though, went on a 9-0 run to take the lead. At the half, Brooklyn was up by nine due to tenacious defense.

The third quarter woes did continue tonight as Brooklyn turned the ball over on their first four possessions of the half and got outscored by ten points in the quarter. In the fourth, though, Brooklyn held strong, gaining the lead and sustained that lead.
The leading scorer for the game was Bojan Bogdanovic with 23 points on 6-of-13 shooting and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Sean Kilpatrick had a great game, too as he scored 22 points. Also with 20 or more points was Brook Lopez, with an even 20.
An honorable mention for the night goes to Trevor Booker, as he was a monster on the glass. Booker brought down a whopping 18 rebounds tonight. Hewas a huge difference maker in this game with his tenacity and fight and athleticism.
More from Nothin' But Nets
Neither team shot the ball particularly well tonight, as Brooklyn shot 38.4 percent, and the Lakers shot 38.5 percent. The difference, especially in the first quarter, was free throws. Brooklyn attempted 40 free-throws and made 30 of them.
A large bulk of these free-throws occurred in the first quarter when Brooklyn shot around 25 percent from the field. Without those free-throws, Brooklyn could have had a larger deficit than three heading into the second quarter.
After the Lakers won the first game of this matchup at home in Los Angeles, Brooklyn came away with a home victory of their own. This was the eighth straight loss for the Lakers, as they fall to 10-18 on the season. Brooklyn goes up to 7-17 on the season with their victory.
The Brooklyn Nets head to Orlando to face off against the Magic on Friday night. The Lakers will look to stop their losing streak in Philadelphia on Friday as well.
