Dirk Nowitzki brings his own foil-wrapped plate of food to games

One of the perks of being a big NBA superstar and millionaire is that you get to eat like a king. Personal chefs? No problem. Nutritionists? All day. Catered meals, anything you could possibly desire available for you before tip off? You bet.

But Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki, as he's wont to do, takes a slightly different approach to his pregame meal.

Nowitzki brings his own plate of foil wrapped leftovers, just like your mom would send you with, to Mavs games. And he does it a lot.

The fine folks at SBNation got to the bottom of the dinner mystery:

"But there's a simple explanation for this: Dirk Nowitzki is a picky eater, okay? SB Nation reached out to the Mavericks about the go plate.

Mavs PR explained: Yes, in Dirk's old age he has gotten very particular about his diet. So, that said, he brings his own food to eat after the game. The plate that he always walks around with is his to-go plate that he brings his food on every game. He is a creature of habit, for sure."

Never change, Dirk.
