It doesn't sound like Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki wants a big farewell tour planned for him, whenever he decides to hang up his sneakers and retire.
When asked about his plans for retirement and when his last season would be, Nowitzki answered definitively: he's not making a big deal of it.
While it's a little unfortunate that away crowds won't be able to give Nowitzki the full-blown appreciation he deserves as one of the most beloved NBA athletes of his era, it's hard to demand a timeline on someone's retirement.
Nowitzki himself may not know exactly when he wants to leave the game, and multiple comeback attempts isn't something you ever want to see from someone who has had such a great career.
All we know for now? When Nowitzki decides he's done, he'll be done.
